Taking my own Advice...
When I work with clients, I constantly tell them that consistency is key! You hear it over and over again, no matter what industry you're in, but it's paramount for a good brand. Everything needs the same look, feel and vibe.
When I first started this business, I was falling into one of the critical errors that I consistently counsel people out of - inconsistency. My brand was all over the place. I planned weddings, I designed invitations, I organized corporate events, I designed email marketing. My website was just the same - confusing! Too much going on all at once, and so much information that my site visitors were confused. I know this from my analytics. On the back-end of my site, I was able to track what pages people were clicking to, and for how long they read those pages. What I learned surprised me. People were confused. They clicked from one page to another with no real clear call-to-action, and when they finally made it to my contact page, they had no idea what services I provided.
So, I took a good, hard look at the data, removed my rose-colored glasses and realized that I too needed a rebrand. I ditched the ol' chicken logo, removed the extra words, and streamlined the process. My clients now are able to see immediately upon visiting my site what I am capable of and what services I offer.
Let me tell you, it was a difficult thing to realize that, a graphic and web designer, had a visually unappealing site. Once I was able to put aside my wounded pride, I had clear vision, and was able to do what needed to be done.
